On August 16, 2025, ABC7 News returned to report how interest in the factory-built housing concept
introduced in Santa Rosa was opening doors in Texas. The follow-up story focused on land donated near
Starbase, Texas, approximately 1.8 miles from the SpaceX launch site.
Founder and CEO Steve Schneider told ABC7 that the first television report helped connect Homes 4 the
Homeless with a land donor interested in the concept. The coverage illustrates how local attention can
create opportunities for broader partnerships and potential housing solutions beyond Sonoma County.
The Starbase opportunity remains a development initiative, with project planning and site options being
evaluated. Homes 4 the Homeless is exploring how compact, factory-built units could serve people who
need affordable housing and greater stability while continuing its humanitarian work in Northern
California.
We thank ABC7 News and Cornell Barnard for returning to the story and helping demonstrate how housing
innovation can attract support beyond its original community.
