Starbase Project - Starbase, Texas
Homes 4 the Homeless recently received a gracious donation of land located in Starbase, Texas. The property, a direct donation from a local individual, is located along Highway 4, within sight of the Starbase launch site. It can accommodate up to 30 units and will enable H4H to expand our outreach to Texas.
This land will be used for community members experiencing homelessness or needing housing assistance. The project will focus on NESSEL capsules, constructed overseas, complete with sleeping, bathroom, kitchen and living areas and only requiring a foundation and hookups to water, sewer and electricity.
The development options of this site are currently being analyzed by our consultants to ensure maximum efficiency of the land including installation. The stakeholders in the community will be involved in the focus of the development, Starbase, Texas emerged from SpaceX’s bold vision to create a private spaceport to support its next-generation launch vehicles.
In August 2014, SpaceX announced its selection of a remote coastal site near Brownsville, Texas—chosen for both its geographic advantages for spaceport operations and its potential to serve nearby marginalized families and individuals by helping establish a safer, more supportive community environment.
