Marina Project - Lake County - California

The Solano Women in Medicine (SWIM) team is updating their project in Lake County, California and moving forward to provide housing for specific clientele in need. The project is located on a former marina that is transitioning to low-income housing.

Currently, there are 15+ tiny wood-fabricated homes (10 x 8 and 12 x 8) ready for construction. The construction of the homes (and bathrooms) will be part of a training program provided by the Lime Foundation. The Lime Foundation manages the NextGen Trades Academy that trains youth in construction fields like roofing, solar, general contracting, and more. The program also offers home repair services, specifically roofing, to the underserved. This allows seniors, veterans, the disabled, and low-income families to remain in their own homes, independent and safe.

The project will include numerous types of housing, including Homes 4 the Homeless model, E-3. The E-3 model is constructed overseas and only requires a foundation and hookups to water, sewer, and electricity. The E-3 model is 204 square feet with sleeping, bathroom, kitchen and living areas. The models are built with fire resistance materials, hurricane rated windows and can be modified to withstand earthquakes up to 7.0.

Homes 4 the Homeless looks forward to assisting SWIM with this project and elevating the lives of those in need.
